2022 To-Do List

2022 To-Do List

I’ve been putting off chatting about my home plans for the year because 2021 threw me for a bit of a loop and I didn’t accomplish as much as I’d planned. I’ll share more about the projects I did complete in 2021 soon, but I figured the only way forward is through so let’s dig in to what I’m hoping to accomplish this year!

small stuff

I only managed some of the organizing and cleaning I planned for last year so I’m still planning some small organization projects like my entryway closet which is begging for a little makeover, especially now that we’ve started actually going outside again!

Last year’s kitchen makeover remains about 90% complete so a big-little thing on the docket this year is finishing it up and finally revealing it. I started it for the One Room challenge last spring and it sort of spiralled so I’d really love to finish it before this spring’s ORC rolls around!

room makeovers

BEDROOMS

I was really hoping to decorate and freshen up the guest room and primary bedroom last year but it got neglected for bigger projects! Neither room needs anything major but I’d just love for both to feel a little more intentional rather than so thrown together!

ENTRYWAY

The entryway got torn up when I did the kitchen renovation and I still haven’t really reassembled it so I definitely need to get it cleaned up a bit now that we’re starting to be able to host guests again!

big stuff

The two major projects I completed last year were absolute game-changers for the house and I’m thrilled to have two more really good ones coming up this year!

EXTERIOR PART II

Last year’s exterior renovation included two jobs I hired out - the replacement of 9 windows with new custom ones, and brand new siding, trim, eaves and fascia for the entire house. It looks and feels absolutely incredible, but it needs some finishing touches! This year I’ve got two more jobs, both hired out again, to finalize the look of the house. The old porch had an aluminum awning that was so not in line with the new siding that the siding installers begged me to remove it. It’s really important to me to have a covered porch however, so I’m going to have it replaced with a new timber-frame covering and matching wood railing which I think is going to look absolutely incredible!

The window company did a phenomenal job so I’m bringing them back to replace my side door (which has been a hot mess since we moved in) and to convert our dining room window into a sliding glass door which is super exciting and leads well into the other large scale project I’m planning!

DECK

The first summer we were in the house I slapped together a makeshift patio situation that honestly wasn’t too bad, but I’ve been absolutely dreaming of having a nice deck off the back of the house. I’m planning a wood deck spanning the entire back of the house that will be accessible from the new dining room sliding door, and will also have a set of steps down to the lawn. While not massive, I’m planning for it to comfortably fit a mid-sized outdoor sofa and a few chairs, a natural gas barbecue, and possibly also a small bistro table and two chairs. It’ll be the perfect spot for our outdoor fire table and I’m really excited at the idea of spending lots of summer and fall evenings relaxing out there and reconnecting with friends and family.

I’m genuinely so excited for everything planned for this year - I hope you’ll check out my Instagram to follow along with the process, and stay tuned here for lots more fun reveals to come!
